Michael Sloper has worked extensively in IT since 1998. Majoring in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, Michael provided help desk support for students at the University of Oregon Law School along with faculty in several departments throughout his years in school.
Upon earning his degree, he moved to Portland, OR where he became IT Director of the law firm Stahancyk, Gearing, Rackner & Kent. With Michael at the lead, the firm was featured on the Apple website for IT innovation. In 2005, Michael helped start the law office Gearing, Rackner & McGrath and still provides FileMaker/IT support to the firm this day.
In 2005, He began working with Matt Navarre and Pre1 Software helping to build SmartPublisher as it transitioned from a multi-file FileMaker 6 solutions to the separation model using FileMaker 7. Along with helping build SmartPublisher, he helped develop a php based web portal which gave reps access to SmartPublisher™ over the web.
In 2009, Michael left Pre1 for Fiddlehead software where he helped build custom databases with Keri Courtain and Kate Lee. His focus at Fiddlehead was creating web apps to integrate with FileMaker solutions.
In 2011, Michael went back to Pre1, working on their Newspaper vertical market solution. He built an online proofing system which streamlines workflow between advertisers, sales reps, and designers. He helped implement AWS hosting services and to rebuild SmartPublisher to be WebDirect compatible.
Michael moved to southern Oregon in 2014. He currently lives in beautiful Ashland, OR with his wife and 2 young kids.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Michael and some friends developed a fun app for calculation Toilet Paper usage.
